3 at my local Game. has the blurb that it is "PC Zone Award for excellence"
so is it any good?

I know its not a sim and the cars are not real, but from what I can read it
is quite amusing.

While I wait I shall go back to my GPL, which has become my favourite game
again with my new graphics card... :-)

Definitely!

Malc.

PS sorry never heard of that other game but 3 is a pretty safe risk imo.

ok - but how is it bad - it must have had something going for it to be a
game of excellence. It seems that Freddie isn't looking for a sim (correct
me if otherwise) just a driving game thats a bit of fun.

it drives like a five year old coin-op.  think Crazy Taxi.

beats me.  GP4 scored 50% better than F12002 in some mag I saw.

Freddie should get a PS2, then. :)

Hang on - let me explain - I have two young kids, one 8, the other 10. They
cannot get to grips with GPL just yet, although they do enjoy TOCA2. I'm
looking for any games which may be a bit of fun that we can all have a blast
with behind the steering wheel.
Crazy Taxi was the biggest load of ***I ever installed, and I took it back
to get a refund. How a mag could even give it a score in the 80's was beyond
me. NFS got the response that 'the cars floating' and GP2/3/4 was just too
difficult - for now...
I don't want a PS2, even if they do. I have decent PC, a wheel, good sound,
and I'm not lashing out for one of those.
There must be a driving game out there which is fine for all the family to
have a go?

Fred.

Just buy the 3 game. Even if the kids only play it for a week it's still
good value, and after that you can recoup your costs a little bit & use it
as a coaster ;-)

As far as games for all the family go, CMR2 is pretty good fun, easy to
learn, but hard to master.

I agree- Colin Mcrae 2 should be a budget release by now, and is great fun,
with a joypad or a wheel & pedals.

cheers

Monster Truck Madness 2 is one of the favorites for my kids and I enjoy
racing them on our NET. They also enjoy Midtown Madness 1 and 2.

don't think so.  not any recent ones anyway.  Eracer will probably
work fine for a ten-year old, but I feel pretty confident when I say
that no GPLer on the face of the planet would stand it.

for good-clean-family-driving-fun-on-a-PC I'd go for Driver, CMR2 or
Porsche Unleashed myself, but like someone said; at three pounds...

Indeed, it's a 2nd generation budget release - budget at 10 being the
1st. Now on Sold Out for a fiver or less.

says...

Midtown Madness is now out on budget as well - a tenner, but claims it
doesn't work on XP.

Acccording to my local store it is the original CM which is one the sold out
fiver range. They have CM2 listed for release for a tenner on the release of
CM3.
