eRacer Problem

eRacer Problem

by Alan Bernard » Mon, 21 May 2001 11:19:22

I've done some fiddling with my system, going from WinMe to Win98SE and back
again to WinMe-- all on clean formats.

In the process-- and now having decided to stick with ME-- eRacer is acting
funny.

The graphics are jittery-like, as if the ground were shaking.  I've never
seen this before, but it's quite bad and doesn't make for smooth frames.

I'm running a GeForce 2, using the 12.00 drivers (I've tried most of the
drivers, with no result).

Any ideas? -- my computer has enough horse power.

Thanks,

Hi Alan,

Did you download the new 1.17 patch yet?  It fixes the following problems:

- Handbrake bug removed
- Waiting room chat messages now wrap
- Online collision optional
- Problem with very slow framerate on some machines

You can download the patch at
http://www.fileplanet.com/dl/dl.asp?/sportplanet/hg/patches/eracerv11....

I hope this helps,

Did it work on the ME originally ? Some CD drives are having trouble reading
the SafeDisc2 copy protection on this game. Try the NO-CD patch, although
that is only for version 1.0, I believe.

Kenneth,

Thanks for the reply, Ken.  I do have the patch.  The thing about this
rumble (you could describe it as a tearing, I suppose)with the graphics is
that it happens only in***pit mode.  It sometimes gets so bad and
distracting that I have been getting used to running my view outside of the
car.

It did work on ME originally.  eRacer, the way I see it, is very unstable.
Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't.  There were two occasions
where I had to reinstall because the menus just got this faded look and quit
responding to keyboard input.  And even with this "rumble" or "tearing",
occasionally it stops only to then eventually start all over again.

Being arcade, the game is not too bad.  It definitely has that unpolished
look of a first release.  And it doesn't look as if Rage-- a la Ubisoft-- is
going to let this title die.  With the addition of some new tracks and the
possibility of 3rd-user add ons, this game could last.
