The next time you do a format/reinstall, try this:

Do a benchmark on your system before you install anything made by Symantec,
especially NAV.

Do the same benchmark after you install that stuff.

Once you see the incredible resource pigs those programs are (especially
NAV) you might think twice about installing them, much less leaving them
running in the background.
