"We believe this game raises and re-defines our own benchmark", commented Crammond. "This is not just a game about racing, this is
literally the closest you will get to F1 racing without actually being there."

"Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 4" for PC and XBox boasts an all new physics and graphics engine, allowing for greater accuracy and
immersion than ever before. A whole host of new additions are promised, including multi-player options, GPS positioning information
and a motion-captured pit crew, all combining to offer the player the most intense F1 racing experience available.

Well, hopefully, the fourth time around, the cars look/drive
differently...........and it's not based on a several years old season :)

The AGE of the season doesn't bother me in the least.  As long as they get
fairly current with the rules, then private webusers can provide any season
we desire.  But, the two points that should be standing out and screaming
are these....
Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 4" for PC and XBox boasts an all new physics

Now just cuz a physics engine is new...don't mean much...but I think we
can have some faith that past efforts by the Crammond team were always
pointed towards realism vs arcade.  and the new graphics 'probably' means we
can say goodbye to 2d sprites interspersed with Polygon cars.
finally, although they don't elaborate, the multiplayer options....that is
an area where ANYONE who gets a chance to interview Crammond should dig.  Is
multiplayer  head to head?  or will double-digit size fields finally be
possible?  As several users here have pointed out, multiplayer is a make or
break option for many.

That's true Dave, heck, GPL is my favorite sim..........but then, it
wasn't trying to be a modern F1 sim either :)
Can't remember, but wasn't GP3 based on the 98 rules too, not just cars,
etc.?

Obviously there's some outdated stuff in GP3 that should be re-worked. And I
agree Dave -
IMHO multiplayer capability has got to be considered one of the chief
benchmarks for most....
Isn't that what it's all about - competition - racing the other guys! If it
wasn't for MP,
I wouldn't be hacking around with these racing sims personally.

Bah I see no mention of a new game engine, therefore Geoff is still lazy.
They stated that GP3 also had "new physics and graphcis engine".  We all
knew even with simple screenshot that was false.  Amazing how lazy he is,
how he still can get out with a decade-old game engine that slows downs
reality instead of skipping frames.

At least, on a console, you can port it easily so that those slowdowns
almost never happen.

It's impossible to have any kind of serious multiplayer considering the game
engine he has.  There will never be good multi in a Geoff Crammond F1 game
until he starts from scratch and eliminates completely his assemblor core
engine.  It was already outdated FIVE years ago when GP2 was released.  Even
if he patches everything around it like in GP3, it's still extremely buggy
and does imcomprehensible things (real-time clock stuff, heck just look at
the weird replays, impossible to synchronise people due to slowed-down time,
10-year old menu structure, very bad GUI, etc...)

Seasons etc. I dont care much for. But, if they want to see any of my
money -  they better include proper online-racing in it..  No
multiplayercode = no sale.
