Annoying Time Limit on Superbikes Demo

This has got to be the most annoying time limit on a demo that I've seen
yet.  Are there any cracks for this??  Beautiful, awesome game - you're
riding along and then it's over in one minute.  Why in the hell do they
do this??  I can't imagine anyone who likes the demo just playing it
over and over on that one track and one bike and not buying the whole
game.  If anything, it's just going to***some off and they won't buy
it because of the time limit.
I can see a time limit of perhaps five minutes in a pinball game or
arcade-style game, where you definitely might just keep playing the demo
over and over without buying the full version.  Maybe it's just the way
I feel, but there is no way I could be satisfied with a sim or arcade
racer demo if I liked it - I would always want the full version's extra
tracks and vehicles.  So why this idiotic time limit?  It's like they
just want to be ***s about it.  Geez, why bother releasing a freakin
demo to begin with?  28 meg download, and it takes another 55 megs
installed, for one minute (although it is one sweet minute).  Any
comments?

It's a demo and it's free.  Even for one minute, you get to see what
it looks like and how it handles.  Judging from your comments your
fairly impressed with the looks.

If the one minute time limit wasn't posted on the site you downloaded
from, then there is something to complain about.

I personally don't see anythign wrong with a time limit in a demo, that's
fine- but 1.5 minutes?

That's not quite quick enough to complete a lap? :)

5 minutes, well, np. But as this level it's hard to make too much of a guess
on what the game play is like.

Luckily, i've raced Brands hatch for about 15 mins at ECTS, and can tell ya,
this game is stunning, and i've had it pre-ordered for a while ;)

I totally agree with you... It took me almost 2 hours to download this demo
and I'm only able to play 1 min at a time. I don't even have time to get
"used to" how the bike handles and how everything works... If VIE wants to
show us how the game looks (awesome) AND how well it plays, they should let
us try it for a little bit longer. Heck, we are only getting a track and a
bike....

Also, have any of you guys been able to race in the simulation mode? It
seems that the arcade mode is the only one we can use to race. The
simulation mode shows us the setup screen but you can't actually race. Also,
I found that control were a bit sluggish with both my TM Grand Prix 1 and a
joystick. I tried changing the control sensitivity, but I don't think it
made any difference.

The demo looks great though.

Yeah, man, but come on!  With this being only a minute or so long, how can I even
taste it?  A screenshot would show me that the graphics look nice.  You can't
even begin to get good at riding the bike when it stops you so quickly.  I am not
asking for free software.  I will most likely buy this game when it comes out
despite this irritating time limit, but what in the world do they think they are
preventing by limiting this so badly?  What bad thing would happen if they had
let you have more time riding?  Some13-year old would ride around and around on
the one track one bike demo and never buy the game because of the fact that it
was unlimited timewise??  He probably wouldn't be buying it anyway.
I think for every person who would do that with an unlimited demo, there are more
out there who would actually buy it because a less chintzy demo actually gave
them a little more FEEL for the game.  Whatever.
It's really just a waste of everyone's time having a demo like this, and they are
not accomplishing anything by being such ***s.

I think the point of a demo is to give you a taster not free software. If you
like a demo, buy it, if you don't, don't.

Lame time limit. Horrible control. Awesome gfx. Poor sound.

But you know what, the reason I'm not going to buy  this game is cause
the demo timelimit pissed me off the most out of any compaint above.

The sound is the closes enough to a ducati. I race againsed them, so i could
say from experience. I hope the 4cyl bikes have the scream and induction
noise they do in real life. Cant say much about the handling tho, it seems
very awkward, if u hung off the side of the bike like it does in the demo
(from what i remember) ur head would scrape on the ground. I hope the
simulation mode is simulation. Highsides, low sides, slides, head shake,
tank slappers etc etc. The setup menu for the simulation section seems to
look fairly descent. Not much more to play around with, basically (apart
from the engine) theres, steering head angle, compression/rebound for front
and rear, ride height front and rear, gearing, tyre pressures in real life.
Sounds simple, but its not as easy as you would think. Hope its a sim...

It's simple! If a demo, that I downloaded (not cheap with the sizes of
todays demos), has a extremely short time limit, I won't buy the game.
Last example was Motorhead, Superbikes is now the next one.
Of course, there are exceptions: EAW is just to good to pass... ;^)

I guess, you understand English, do you? Nobody asked for the full
version for
free, just for a few laps to be able to test the game. Geez!

FYI, the latest Demo of Motorhead (got mine from the PCGamer CD, not
sure about the Net version) allows 3 laps with 3 competitors and you can
race unlimited times.  No more time limit.

Same with the latest demo of Plane Crazy.  It now lets you finish the
course, a better course than was in the first demo.

Correct.  Trying to get a feel for how you might improve lap to lap with
a game is near impossible when you get kicked out of each race before
finishing a lap.  Maybe with an action game a time limit makes sense but
racing games should allow you to improve on your cornering, getting to
know just how realistic/fun it may be to get good at the game.

I would like to get to the point of being annoyed with this demo !

Every time I go to the Avault to download this sim it "times out",  (like
the site is too busy ) or I download 26 Mb (of the28mb) and it quits.

Has (or did) anyone have this problem ? ( FWIW, I couldn't find the Ultimate
Pro Gamer mag that has the demo)

You REALLY need to use something like GetRight, that is able to resume a
download. With ISDN it doesn't happen very often, but restarting after
downloading 20 MB really sucks...
