Well...downloaded the xcar demo from pcgamer's website.
When I try to run it in DOS (6.22 of course), I get the splash screen,
and then the main menu. If I pick ANY menu item from the main menu, it
freezes. the only way I can get out of it is to give the three fingered
salute, at which point the game pukes with a bunch of system address
error messages, and unceremoniously dumps me back to dos.
If I run it under Win95, I get the splash screen (it also loads faster),
then the main menu. If I pick the tracks menu, it loads that menu. If I
pick a track, the game freezes. If I pick any other menu from the main
menu, it freezes.
from either OS, I get no sound, and no sound in the setup utility which
detects a SoundBlaster AWE32 card. I have an ESS 1788 PnP. I WISH I had
the AWE32.
