As of this writing, todays NASCAR event has seen 14 cautions. Should it
stay the same 'til the green falls, that means that today the pros seen
an average of 35 laps between cautions.

Do you all realize how much shit would fly had todays race been online?
I know a few people who post here would most likely be saying "That was
a horrible *beep*ing race!" or "You all need more practice!"

Sweet irony. :)

2 BIG differences

1.  They are going a full distance (RASCAR went 200 laps)

2. They have 43 cars on the track (RASCAR had 15)

True. However, there are leagues around that run the entire thing.

A valid point. So I'd think 3-4 cautions would be fair considering the
numbers (laps and drivers).

I'd like to propose two differences for them and the sim racers: they
don't have to worry about warp, /and/ they have the luxury of physical
car feedback. Yet they still come out with quite a few cautions. Enough
for any elite sim racer to blow a valve. :)

One the many advantages we Elite Sim Racers have over our RL counterparts is
most of the time our rides/sponsor contracts do not depend on us being able
to sensor ourselves. <g>

Completely wrong

RASCAR had 6 cautions in 200 laps with 15 drivers.  That is 1 caution for
every 2.5 drivers per 200 laps

The Cup drivers would have to have 17.5 cautions in just the first 200 laps
to equal that ratio.  That is 43 cautions over 500 laps.

The Cup drivers had 5.6 cautions per 200 laps and that is with almost 3x
more cars.  The Cup race had 1 caution for every 7.6 drivers over a 200 lap
span

As I said, big difference

So did you choose to ignore the part about warp and 2D feedback making sim
racing more difficult to drive door-to-door and thus making crashes more
likely?

Oh, and one more thing - lighten up Francis it's only a game. ;)

Bullshit.  Watch a VRW or ESCORS race, they run side by side for full
length races with full fields and generally have fewer cautions than
the pros.

One major advantage simracers have over their real life counterparts
that IMHO supercedes anything else is seat time.  You can run as many
laps at a track as you want before a race.  The lack of discipline in
many online races has more to do with skill, attitude, and lack of
seat time than any other factor imho.

The pros also have many more things that cause cautions than sim
racers do, at least in N2003.  In N2003 there are no random tire
deflations or explosions, no oil on the track, no suspensions or
brakes failing or stuck throttles.  In simracing every single caution
is brought out by an accident involving a car.  99.9% of them can be
avoided with patience and seat time.

Did you choose to ignore the fact that HE compared an online race to the
Real Life Cup race?

Dont compare then two and then when you realize that you can't, use it as an
excuse..

Um, we DO have stuck throttles :)
