This is not the proper place to say these things.  Learn when to say things
and where to say them, otherwise, you'll die dumb and unchallenged.

.........closely followed by the Piracy Police and a nice stay in
Hotel ***y!

Seriously. Last night here in Australia there was a show on the tele
with a computer whiz showing how easy it was for any hacker, etc to have
unlimited access to anyone's computer on the net. Open and close the CD
Drive, open and view any folder, etc. It may not be legal for software
houses or Piracy Police to do this but how would anyone know? Just
follow it up with a "random" inspection of someone's computer. Or maybe
just do a delete/C: for them? hehehehehehehe

lessee, pay $50 AND be able to race online and be realtively sure that it
will install and work.

OR

Get the warez version, put Papy out of business and be stuck with the AI,
hmmmmm.

Not a difficult choice here, bug off!

Ok - so somebody snoops your hard drive and sees a program on it.  How do THEY
know if it's warez or a legit copy?  I'd hate to see someone get nuked for
nothing...

Good point. Where there's a will there's a way! :) Off the top of my
head, how about an in game program that knows if a certain file has been
sent across the net (one that never would be for reasons other than
piracy). I'd be surprised if there was no way to tell whether a file had
been copied from a CD or not. One with a unique serial number at that?

Most warez uses totally different setup routines.  The program's root
directory will have files the *real* program doesn't.  It will also be
lacking some files the real program has.  It would be easy to
differentiate.

Oh - shows what *I* know about warez...<g>  Ok, here's another:  Would the
various "no-cd" patches make the program appear to be warez, even though the
person bought the program?

Yes. Allmost allways it's only the (mainprogram).exe file that is
different in a warez version. They hack that exe file to bypass any
copy protections. Exactly the same as those no-cd patches actually.

There are 2 sorts of warez versions btw:
Rips - To keep the download small intro movies, music etc have been
ripped. Often the music and movies can be downloaded as addons again.
Iso's - Complete backup of cd's, often provided with a hacked exe file
to bypass the copy protection.

Uh.  If you administer your operating systems correctly, it is
impossible to do what you're describing.  A properly administered
Windows machine should not be accepting TCP or UDP connections on any
port.

As far as piracy goes, I don't see why anyone would want an illegal
copy of N2002 since it's useless online (all it takes is one person to
give papy the serial and no more sierra.com for you).

N2002 WAREZ!!

by Jim Teste » Mon, 18 Feb 2002 02:52:13

Brings up a question.  Last week I built up a new system, and had to get a
new PCI Modem.  (ESS)  Ever since then, If I'm flying my FS2002 in
multiplayer, I will get a pop-up screen indicating indicating that my "ISP
does not accept incoming calls".

How do I disable that?

Thanks...
