Anybody using a Voodoo 5 5500 ???

Here I thought I was bad with 2-IDEs and 1-SCSI! Now down to 1-IDE and
1-SCSI (2 partitions). SCSI just makes it worst!

27GB, 13GB, 48x CD, CD burner(all IDE).  I need a bigger case, or larger hard
drives, or BOTH!<g>

20.4g, 6.4g, 40x cd-rom, 6x DVD (all IDE).  ~and~ a SCSI CD writer and JAZ
drive with a scanner*** off the back of the card.  Let's not get into
the ***, front yard/driveway surveillance cam/camcorder/cable TV going
into the video cap card or the cassette recorder/line out from the effects
box/preamp for music recording purposes.  Then there's the USB mouse and
Sandisk Compactflash reader, etc. etc. etc.  It's a durn bag of snakes down
there.

Hmm, you blamed everything in your system, but not the
most obvious one. Why are you using W2K on a *** PC?
There are lots of games that don't work under W2K
(unless they recently found a miracle cure for the prob).

Now I just hope the M$ fanboys don't jump on me stating
that it's the games fault... ;)

Ive tried 3 times to post here... god I must be doing something wrong..

Im running W2K for work, and Win98SE for ***..

The reason I posted about W2K in my initial post was that I had to
download the drivers cause they were not on the CD (as well as NT4,
which my other PC has..)

Do any of you think this card was rushed when released.. The card is
superb but the overall package is not great...

Thanks in advance for any info..

You mean because it doesn't have NT or W2000 drivers? That is
what you are implying. It I understand correctly then I say no the
card was not rushed. It is a W998 *** card, not a NT ***
card.

And an awesome one at that.  I think he has a point about the
packaging, though.  The heatsinks, and the way in which they're applied
could have been a *lot* better.  My V3-2000 has a bigger heatsink, for
pete's sake - and it's attached with a thermal pad (which contacts the
whole chip and has consistent thickness, which is more than I can say
for the V5's goop.)
Kind of sad - the V5 FSAA is fantastic, no card has better all-around
game support, and the 3dfx drivers just get better and better (nicer
than the 'driver-dance' nVidia owners with many different games seem to
have to go through).
3dfx should just contract with TennMax or something ;).
I've ***ed in several posts about the heatsinks, but don't take it as
a slam against the card - I have no regrets in picking up my V5.  I've
always been willing to tweak my hardware, and I figured I'd just go
ahead and fix the heatsinks myself rather than return the card.
Note that in the V5 NG a 3dfx employee has hinted that steps are being
taken to improve the heatsink mounting - what that actually entails I
have no idea.
