The best game for public racing is GPL there is a large cummunity built up
around it and always busy bunch of servers to race on. go here to get vroc

NASCAR 2002 is good.  Although many pickup races can be a mess, try and find
a good league and you'll have fun.

  N2k has the most racers.  Vroc is good for GPL, but there's little actual
racing going on there; most servers cycle unused, especially compared to the
N2k ones.

  Quality of racing is about the same, more or less.

It's a free demo and allows 8 players in multiplayer at the moment, but will
allow more later.
It probably has the most sophisticated network code for any racing sim. They
talk about unlimited number of spectators.

The new patch 0.1L seems to have improved the multiplayer even further.  You
can set timeout lengths for servers and the warping for bad connections
doesn't seem as bad as it used to, though, maybe I'm just imagining it.
