You're forgetting the ghost from the past who occasionally looks in to see
what still might run on his PIII-500 notebook with the lame 8Mb Savage
graphics chip... It looks like the line has finally been drawn, as the N4
demo was still quite enjoyable, but Rally Trophy just spit me back to the
desktop. Guess I'll stick with RallyMasters for my dirt thrills.

great to hear from you again! You still haven't got around to install
DX8.0, have you ;)? Seriously, RT is I believe a DX8 game, so installing
it might be necessary. The settings seem to be *very* scalable. It's not
as if the sim barely runs, but it runs fluidly on my machine at decent
settings. Very much like N4 I suppose, so maybe you'll be able to enjoy
it.

Hi Gregor,
Although my brain has been almost completely reduced to a pulp since leaving
the safe, warm confines of post-graduate education [ :-) ] I have indeed
crawled out of my cave and discovered DX8. It improved many of my old
favourites, even though my drivers aren't certified (no surprise for a
notebook chipset from a semi-extinct company). Sadly, no luck with RT.
I'll throw it on one of our workstations when all my students go home. That
of course will probably make me want to go buy a desktop, and with my
girlfriend and I both already running notebooks, that's a pretty tricky
2000.- to justify.
Then again, Digital Illusions has promised a nice looking sequel to Rally
Masters for the XBOX, EA has F1-2002 for the XBOX, and there is a
conspicuously empty hole under our TV set which is just begging for a
slightly enhanced DVD player.
