Check in at the TEI site....they had a fix for the momentary disconect
problem.  I don't know if that is what your are suffering through, but take
a look.

"Nigel Nichols"

I don't think too many people would disagree with that!

attention. Ahhh heck..why start after 39 years...

TSW and non papy games..

Do you know what axes your controller uses?  I assume that in the windows
game controllers dialog you can see the bars move around in response to your
pedal/wheel movements?  Are they moving the full range?  Do you have the 1.5
patch for heat (I think after DirectX 8 came out, some controllers started
showing up with the pedals showing up on the formerly unused "Slider" axes,
but the 1.5 patch added support for multiple controllers and every axis or
button possible.)
I've never seen a problem before with Heat not working with a controller
that works in windows, especially a gameport wheel.  The only problem I
recall was with a ECCI wheel which has one pedal on the "Y" axis--windows
doesn't accept a Y axis that has only one direction, so you had to hold the
pedal halfway down when setting the "center" position in calibration.  The
error was pretty obvious in the windows dialog--when the pedal was up it
showed up as flickering between "center" and "up".
Also, there's a little DirectInput "test app" that comes with Racer that
will tell you what axes your controlller uses.
