Nope! I'm afraid not. They had a beta version of the game.
They had an F2 chasis rigged up with a steering wheel and pedals. It was
difficult to control the cars, probably because I had never used the wheel
before. The 37" monitor was positioned 2 meters above and forward on a wall for
everyone to see. This made it difficult to see the corners as you approached,
so most people kept comming off. They are giving away a T2 to the person with
the best lap time at Adelaide. I only manage 1:37 (best so far 1:24,
computer cars where doing 1:12) because I couldn't stay on the track. (Too
aggressive or too e***d?)
But the game was pretty awesome. The my first impression was that it was just
F1GP that had been coloured in. But that opion quickly changed when I saw the
amount of detail that went into the track. I noticed the run off areas first
(because of my skill level I guess). They were just like the real track. Some
were "kitty litter" traps, others were concrete run offs bordered only by the
ripple strips, and some had the sponsors logo painted on them. It really looked
like the real thing. The car handling was great. My friend really had a great
time sliding the car around (a bit too much though because I beat his time).
The cars got airbourne a little too easy however, and the frame rates in those
sequences where really poor.
By the way, the sales assistant said the game is in production, and will be here
by August! Agggghh!!!
It really was the fix I need after all these months of waiting. I guess I can
wait another month.
