T1 and ACP steering systems.

by David Wrink » Sat, 31 Dec 1994 06:11:28

Hello,
I have a question for the ACP and T1 steering device owners.  The
impressing I get from the literature is that they have dual joystick
plugs. I plan on purchasing a ACP wheel but am unable to get two
joystick ports working on my system.  I use the joystick port on the
sound/cd rom board, and have no problems.  The port on the IDE
controller card does't seem to work, no matter where I jumper the
joystick pins.  I have also tried a dual port joystick board and to no
avail it does not seem to be acknowledged by the computer.  Can anyone
give an idea on getting this problem***ed, before the money is spent
on either steering device.
(486 Dx2 66mhz Maching with mitsumi sound/cd rom board, and vision VL
IDE card.
Any and all suggestions will be most welcome.
Thank you
Dave

I have a T1.  It came with an adapter that lets both the wheel and pedals
operate through a single input port on my sound board (which is a Cardinal
Jazz, the one that is shipped with low-end Gateway 2000's).  I have no
problems whatever other than thermal calibration problems as mentioned
yesterday.  It is my understanding that the ACP has the same feature, but
not having one (yet) I don't know for sure.  Your sound board does have
to be capable of handling two inputs on the single port, but most of them
seem to be now.

The newest version of the ACP works on a single port game board.  No
longer do you need to have two ports.  Mine came with single 15 pin plug.

So you have no worries with the ACP.

Enjoy

Jack

You don't need 2 ports, your single port on your gamecard must
support 2 joysticks. Any soundblaster card gameport should support
this. The "2 joystick" ACP only uses one game PORT it just uses the
joy1 x-axis as the wheel and the joy2 x-axis as the pedals. As said
earlier, the new ACP uses only 1 joystick (x and y).
Enjoy your wheel!
