Just curious, how do you get your car into the infield if your
computer is frozen up?

I just did a 50 lap race at Michigan with the spotter turned off, and only
text messages. No freezes. It looks like I'll have to install a new sound
card, but this solution will have to do for tomorrow's race as I won't have
time to get one before the race.

This game is going to cost me a grand total of $270 to play. In addition to
the $50 cost of N2002, perfectly good harware (ram, CD-RW drive, sound card)
will have been replaced trying to find the source of the problems.

Thanks for the help Sirerra/Papyrus.

I reallly don't want to be a driver that people feel nervous around on the
track, so that's why I offered to drop out until the problem is solved.

Only been in a few of these, but IMO, if more in the field drove like
you, there'd be much better races.

If no one is next to me, I turn left. :-) What happens is the screen freezes
for about three seconds, but the action continues. After three seconds, I'm
back to "live" action.

Although I've never been able to be home in time for RASCAR, I have
raced with you before.  There is no reason for anyone to feel nervous
around you on the track.

Dave,
Why did you replace the CD-player?

N2002 dont use the CD at all once the securom verification has been
completed (i.e when you start the sim or log-on to Sierra.com)

Provided you have done a full install of the game that is...

I keep my N2002 cd in my cd burner at all times.  Keeps my CD/DVD
player free.  Figure I better find some use for my burner.

I saw a post from one of the Papyrus guys who said that another poster's
freezes could possibly be fixed by disabling streaming sound in the app
file. He said that the game would then preload all the spotter comments into
the game at the beginning instead of accessing them from the disc during the
race. I disabled the streaming but still had freezes, so I figured I'd turn
it back on and try the game with a new CD player.

Of course I could of read what the Papy employee said incorrectly. I'm
desperate and grabbing at straws. :-)

Ahh...  I see...  I reckon the disc he was referring to was the
hard-disc...?

Anyway; I would love to help out - but I'm afraid I'm out of options...:-(
I hope Larry can help you get it sorted as it's always nice to have you in
the races Dave.  (We might disagree on "a thing or two" but atleast we seem
to be able to race eachother cleanly - and I like that. :-)

Yes, we do.

Do you know that there's something you do in every race that makes me laugh?

You do it to me and the others. Occasionally we'll go door to door through
the turns, hands tight on the wheel, fighting for position. When you do get
by, I see a "Thank You" pop up on the screen. Makes me laugh every time, as
if I just "let" you by. :-) When I see that "Thank you" pop up when you are
elsewhere on the track, I imagine someone else just went through the same
thing.

I use that chat command for several things...  usually to show gratetude
(sp?) though.
When ever I race someone hard or very close I like to express my thanks to
them for giving me "room to play in".

I'll also use it for people that do "let" me by too....  aswell as any other
incident were I should be thankful for not getting hit by another car....
Take Michigan for instance...  I remember once I a car 'inside' me thru turn
1 and 2...  Sort if midway thru the turns I could hear the car inside
lifting off the throttle, just to make sure I would have enough room so I
could take a narrower line and (if needed) avoid hitting the outside wall.

Imho, if we're to be able to race side by side like it's meant to, we have
to follow 'gentlemens-rules' like this in order to avoid wrecks...  I just
want to do my part by letting people know I do appreciate their gestures,
just like I hope you guys appreciate it whenever I do the same.

Can we have a moratorium on those "thank you" messages, please?  I know it's
meant in good spirit, but it's damn distracting...

FWIW, I tend to agree Eldred, I never thank anyone during a race, first
of all because it's distracting to *me* :-), but also because it's not
really necessary and others might find it distracting, it's sort of
implied when racing amongst friends that you appreciate them racing you
clean

Beers and cheers
