and on for a couple of months; Eagle, Spa, std setup with full-fuel --
now I've decided to attempt some setup changes (something I've had
modest success with in Papy's N-series over the years), but I'm stumped.
I read somewhere that Spa needs a little oversteer, but first to lower
the fuel load so I can chase down the AI in those long (for me), 9-lap
races -- don't laugh. So I cut the fuel load in half, with no other
changes, and immediatly picked up a push (along with slightly better
lap times of course) where I used to have a nice, comfortable trailing
throttle oversteer... So I (very slowly), started playing with sway-
bars trying to put a little more cornering load on the rear, then a
pound more air in the rear tires, but I really don't want to kill rear
tire stick, I want to increase the front end bite and now after
lowering the front and raising the rear slightly (attempting, I
thought, to play with roll-centers, hence weight transfer).
What I've got now is a quirky beast that has about half the trailing-
throttle oversteer I'd like (I was quite comfortable with trailing
throttle balance the way it came out of the box), and a very noticeable
push coming off the tighter corners which transitions into an explosive
oversteer once it gets on the pipe. Braking is just plain a bear,
although I seem to be able to down-shift almost anywhere in the turn
without upsetting the car too badly -- I'm now officially lost...
I'm no Jimmy Clark, so there are lots of driver induced problems to be
sure (can't seem to tune those out either), but so far I've not touched
brakes, shocks or any of the stuff I'm familar with from N1, N2, N3...
This is a wonderful Sim, but at the rate I'm going, I'm going to have
to start over with the BRM, or maybe a taxicab.
Ideas, basic theory, websites????
Thanks, Sgt
