Alltel and Cingular have been grandfathered into the contract. No new
wireless companies can sponsor cars and if Alltel or Cingular leave they
can't come back.
Despite what a few of you suggested, I was not trying to be cute, a
"know-it-all" or a "troll" about this information. Considering the source
of the information, it was possible that it wasn't widely known (the
specifics) and when I came in here and saw no recent discussion about
it......I thought maybe I should not reveal what I had been told earlier in
the day (in a meeting, at Sears Point....included were two SMI management
and three NASCAR officials). I actually thought about just deleting the
post.....but I thought maybe a few people do know...and if the correct name
is revealed in the string......then great! My "purpose" was to get the news
out and garner some discussion about it....and that would have worked just
as well as my saying the company name (and it did).
And, to those of you who took this wonderful opportunity to get a few "jabs"
in at me (again).......I say this to you, "Bite me!" LOL.......
