Finally won my first race today.  At Talladega, of course.  Then I got
brave and entered a 25 lapper at Bristol.  Man did I get torn up
there. :)  Anyways, at the Talladega race, I was in 2nd for 2 laps,
passed the leader and maintained a good lead (0.5 - 1.5 seconds) for
rest of the race.  The dude I passed (KingCaboa) kept trying to block
me despite my having a good draft, so I finally took him in the
tri-oval by going inside.  I had the line and was ahead of him though
not clear, so he let up and fell in behind.  I guess I ticked him off
or something cause after the race, he followed me nailed the ***out
of me.  I continued into the pits, and dang if he didn't do it again!
The replay (which I saved) clearly shows it was intentional
aggression.  He went out of his way twice to ram me.  Talk about a
sore loser....

Sorry for the griping.... Just wondering, though, do these crashes
after the checkered flag count as incedents?  I certainly hope not as
I would be doubly upset for getting penalized for someone else's
anger.

Thanks,
Sam

I've asked about those after race crashes and have gotten a "yes
they count" and "no they don't".
The best policy would seem to favor NOT wrecking ever. After I cross
the finish line I try to go hide my car and not hit anything or
anybody.

I have heard that an incident is "anything that causes a spotter action"
ie. car thwonked in front stretch, big trouble in turn 2.

I haven't seen these messages latly, even after a mass pile-up.

Wierd

And I have been guilty of hitting people after the race. But these were
people who intentionally ran into me either on the first lap, or during
the race as I tried to pass. I figured it's better to do it after the
race.

Hmmmm..... well, I'll watch for the race results to be posted and see.
It was a Tally race on 6/6/96 and it's the only one I've ever won, so
it should be easy to find.  I'll see how many incedents KingCaboa and
I have.  I hope 0, but it doesn't look good.

Thanks for the help, guys.  I'll report back as soon as I find out.

That would hurt. I won a Taladega race and drove to the back stretch
and exited to the race menu to save the replay. The next thing I heard
was a crash and squealing. A review of the replay showed that at the
point where I exited, the car continued on driverless. The guy who
finished 2nd caught up to my car and got forced into the wall. The
replay looked like I intended to do that but I wasn't even "in" the
car when it happened.

One word of advice I am now following, don't leave your car while it
is on the track and/or moving. If there is a post race penalty, this
will help you keep your points.

I had a great battle with KingCaboa yesterday afternoon! We went two-wide
through the tri-oval without an incident. He had the outside line and
had a little more speed than me at the exit so I lost the position to him
going into turn 1. I was able to get the spot back later.

He also made a great inside pass on another car in the tri on the last
lap. He had his car safely inside and held his exit line to the middle
lane. The other guy nudged his RR but Caboa made the pass stick for the
position. Good stuff!
