Hi all, Does anyone know how to get the Diamond Stealth 3D card to
initalize in the Nasrend mode ?? After I installed this card I can't get
the game to recognize it !! The graphics look much better, but Is this the
3D mode ?? Doesn't seem like it !!
Any help that anyone could provide is way more than I have now !! I
already tried the Diamond Web site and downloaded both the Windows 95
driver, and the DOS VESA 2.0 driver. The game still won't Initalize the
card !! Thanks Again !!

That must be you thinking the graphics are better. There is 2 modes 2d &
3d. 2d no matter what card you got... even 3dfx wony look any different. 3d
can only be run if your card has a Rendition Verite Chip in it. Stealth 3d
has a virge chip, so there is not a single way you can run nasrend with
that card.
I have a Stealth 3D 2000 and am considering getting a Screamin' 3D so
I can use the Rendition mode in Nascar 2. However, very few
applications as of yet make use of Rendition, and my Stealth 3D is a
very good performer in other areas. I'm wondering if you, or anyone
else reading this, knows of a web site or something that compares
non-3D performance of Stealth 3D 2000 to the Rendition cards. I know
I'll lose performance in 2D/windows/DOS when going to a Rendition
card, but I just want to know if the loss is worth being able to play
Nascar2 in Rendition mode. Of course I'd rather get a 3dfx and be
able to keep my Stealth for 2D stuff, but as someone else pointed out,
looks like Sierra is more interested in promoting their own interests
than supplying the customers with what they want.
For Windows 2D stuff it will be slower, but most 2D cards are quite
accpetable by today's standards. For VESA resolutions the two cards should
be quite similar. The Rendition will be far behind in regular old VGA, but
when's the last time you played a game in VGA?

Skeeter,
I do not know of such a site for a comparison, but I too am very satisfied
with my Stealth 3D 2000. I went to a dos prompt and ran nasrend and the
other two dos commands (cant' think of the file names right now!) and I
could swear that I now see some 3D effect on the Sears Point and Watkins
Glen tracks that wasn't there before!!
When I ran these dos commands for Nasrend, etc. I got unrecognized vidoe
card messages, but still ran all three and then went back to N2 in Win95.
I know it sounds crazy, but I still think it did something to give a 3D
effect. Try it out and see if you don't agree, I'd really be interested in
hearing a second opinion.
