>The Chaparells (sp? Jim Hall? the first cars with wings, weren't they?)
That's Chaparral ... Jim Hall was indeed the team leader / number one
driver for Chaparral. And yes, they were essentially the first cars with
wings (I believe there were some earlier experiments, but nothing really
successful).
cars!
I'm not sure what you mean by a Chaparral GT. Perhaps you're referring to
the 2F. This was a closed***pit, winged Chaparral that was raced in the
endurance races in 1967 (Le Mans, Nurburgring 1000 Km, Targa Florio, 12
hours of Sebring, Brands Hatch 500 .... ) and driven by Phil Hill and Mike
Spence.
The more famous winged Chaparrals were the Can Am cars (open***pit sports
cars) - the 2E (1966, driven by Jim Hall and Phil Hill) and the 2G (1967 and
1968, driven by Hall).
The beautiful, wingless Chaparral you are probably referring to is the 2A or
2C. Hall dominated the USRRC sports car races of 1965 in these cars
(teammates included his partner Hap Sharp and Roger Penske). A gorgeous car.
