Just out of curiousity -- Why would you set the FF to a negative value?  I
tried it, and the forces felt like the wheel wanted to turn AWAY from center,
rather than toward center.  In other words, the wheel got "lighter" the more I
turned it.

I'm using an LWFF, btw.

I find that a positive value for FF is more realistic.

Yes, but negative is wrong for my wheel, I have to use positive values.

Ok, that probably is why mine has to be positive.

Some wheels interpret the number as negative.  The FF effects will be
screwed up, and feel the way you described.  For those wheels, you
need to make the FFB steer force max input a negative number, then
the effects feel right.

It sounds like the newer versions of the MS FF wheel don't have
that problem, and can use a positive number.

Hi Pat,

thanks for the great setups! using the logitech FF and your setup is way
better than the default one.
btw are there any equally good  setups for Nascar4?

thanks

Jeffrey

Olav,

Well, what I was hoping for was like GPL's linearity "slider," a kind of a
reversed "L" shape: the steering around TDC (top dead center) is slow, but
as you input more steering, the response speeds up.  (This is how it's done
in the real world, BTW, for those of you who don't yet have drivers'
licenses.)  I'll give it a try in a couple of positions and see if it starts
to make any sense.

FWIW, engineers use the terms "response" and "gain."  Papy's system is
hi-response, hi-gain, which is like a race car.  ISI's system is
lo-response, hi-gain, which is more like a passenger car (a BIG American
passenger car), or, for that matter, the Queen Mary.

Agree.  Totally.

Unfortunately, Nascar 4 doesn't allow the same type of
modifications to the FF effects that F1 2001 does.

I would like a good explanation of how the FF effects
in N4 relate to steering movement.  In F12K, you can
tailor the effects to the characteristics of a
particular wheel.  I have a feeling that N4 is more
of a one-size-fits-all approach.
