DTR - Dirt Track Racing Leagues and Servers....

by Don Wilsh » Thu, 23 Sep 1999 04:00:00

Drivers:

Dirt Track Racing (DTR) is in final testing and will be released before
christmas I'm sure.  DTR will
come with side server software that allows you to run your own racing
operation or leagues.  We
will be setting up a web site soon to help coordinate this.  We want to
start working now with
prospective league adminstrators and companies that can dedicate racing
servers, off-hours or
even on the weekends.   We hope to serve the DTR community to match drivers
with leagues, and
assist the leagues with whatever resources that can benefit you.  This site
will also contain the
lastest revisions of any software, reviews and previews, contests and
prizes.  I can only attest
after playing most great driving games that this one is a great one.  DTR
was developed by
RATBAG and has is being extensively tested mostly by real racers.  The
purpose of this
message is to give you a heads up.  The day this site opens, 4 million
people will be notified
and they will be hungry for racing leagues..

Don Wilshe..

I heard that John Bodin got a screen shot of that***pit for DTR and you
just might see it
posted tonight..

As they say, ask and ye shall receive -- and after asking and asking, I
finally received an in-car screen shot from DTR!  It looks good to me, but
you can judge for yourself:

Now, would somebody care to part with a copy of their beta version, perhaps?
I promise I'd take good care of it! <G>

John you don't have a copy already? Now that sucks. I really thought you had
one. Ah well. That screen shot is nice tho', my kinda view. From the back of
a full field of cars.

These screens look great and all but i hope that mirror can be turned off.  As
far as i know the real guys dont have them and id prefer not to have one as
well.  Now im not saying it should be eliminated but it should be an on/off
type thing like in SCGT or NFS (except i use it in those).  If it isnt oh well
im still wating for this one with great anticipation.

Don,

Since you seem to be the guy who knows, I'll ask you: Will DTR support
Force Feedback? Seems to me the bumby dirt tracks would be perfect for
FF. Any news? Thanks!

I'm not Don, but I do know that Powerslide had some nice FF implementation,
and I believe I've heard that DTR will also support FF.  Don can probably
verify this, though.

I've heard that they may be modifying the in-car view a bit -- like lowering
the dash panel and gauges, and modifying the "hood" to give a better view of
the road.  The pics circulating now are from the alpha version -- I think
one of the beta testers suggested this change and it was well-received by
Ratbag.  Supposedly the view in the final beta (or final release?) version
will differ from this somewhat.  Maybe it'll include a photo-realistic dash,
like N3?  If you'd like to see something like this, e-mail Ratbag -- you can
reach them through their Website:
