Which wheel for a PS2 ?

by XtianBress » Sun, 12 May 2002 07:04:52

Hi,

I need some advice for a PS2 wheel. I have a big ben (Feed Force) to play GT3
but it is not very precise and i don't feel cumfortable, the wheel is "slow"...
What is the best wheel for PS2 ?

Regards
Christian

Best 1 I know of is the Logitech Formula Force GP(Red handles),
which works for PC as well, or get the whell build by Logitech
for GT3, which basically is the same thing just a different color
(blue), now i cant say if anything else works but all i know is I
have managed to get gold in all the licences(well havent finished
super yet but have gold in first 3 tests), which i thought was impossible
with the controller!!

For the record, the current blue wheel - with PS2 style buttons - feels
much, much cheaper, and doesn't work with the PC, as far as I know.  The
older blue wheel is simply a blue version of the red wheel, and works just
like one.

I've got a red and an old blue wheel.  They work great. =)

Ah I stand corrected
I only new about the old blue wheel my friend bought 1 for his
PS2, especially for that game, I already had the red wheel when
I bougth the PS2 GT3 version and then when my friend got a pc
i told him to just go to the logitech site download the drivers and he
was set and it worked !

I'm pretty sure the Logitech MOMO wheel can be used with PS2 through the USB
port... someone second me or correct this.

Yeah, apparently the original blue was a limited-run item.  The PC sees both
wheels (old blue and a real red) as red; the PS2 sees both as blue.  Hehe.

Well, there is one other difference between the two; the red uses belts, the
blue uses gears.  The red has a SLIGHTLY better feel, but it could be
production tolerances too.  I'd just buy whichever is cheaper - which is
actually probably red, I got mine for under $40 on eBay!

Neil, You are correct. With some exceptions (explained below), if the game
works
with the Logitech GT3 wheel, it will also work with the MOMO wheel.

Two exceptions that I know of that do not support the MOMO wheel are: "F1
2001"
and "Nascar Thunder 2002". I believe these games only support the GT3 wheel.

If you have a question about MOMO support for a specific game you could go
to
the WingMan forum and ask those guys (www.wingmanteam.com/discus).
