Dual PC/PS2 wheel?

Dual PC/PS2 wheel?

by Dave Weav » Thu, 11 Oct 2001 15:53:22

I have both a PC and a Playstation 2, and I race on both platforms.

I already have a Microsoft Sidewinder FF wheel for my PC, and
would like a wheel for the PS2.

Is there a steering wheel (preferably FF) that works with both?

If so, is it any good?

Otherwise, which wheel is best for the PS2?

Cheers,
Dave

The Act Labs Force Feedback works for both (as far as I know).  Although you
need to buy an addon for the PS2.  Have a look at
http://www.softwarefirst.com

All the best,
Ash

Ash

Sorry but Act Labs only support the Playstation, not the PS2.  There has
been a lot of discussion over the lack of PS2 support by AL on their forum
in the last week or so.

BTW, congrats on the promotion to div 3.

G'Day Mr Lee :)

I thought they said it would be coming out "very soon", perhaps not, but I
am sure they are working *** it :)

Thanks, I need to get some practice in in order to make an impression ;)

All the best!

Not true. There is no PS2 cartridge for the Act Labs wheels, and right now,
they don't plan on supporting FF when they DO release a cartridge.

I've gotten this directly from Act Labs Director of Technology

These wheels work for both (ALL kinds of things on this topic at the High Gear forums...)

  a.. Thrustmaster Ferrari Force Feedback
b.. Logitech Wingman Formula Force http://www.racesimcentral.net/
c.. Logitech Force GT (GT3 official wheel)
d.. http://www.racesimcentral.net/~hg/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22304 (includes comments on the Thrustmaster wheel also)
e.. Logitech Driving Force (needs a registry mod to make it work on the PC)
  f.. Logitech Momo Force
My pick is the Thrustmaster wheel, although I also have the Driving Force

says...

Your best bet is probably the Driving Force from Logitech.  This new
model has all of the PS2's buttons, so you can use it to navigate thru
menus.

Dual PC/PS2 wheel?

Well, we tried some PC wheel for the PS2 at work, and now nearly all the FF
wheel except MS ans Saitek use Immersion engines, so if a game support an
Immersion FF wheel then other immersion wheel SHOULD work, and the Act Labs USE
the Immersion engine...however sometimes if it's not writen PS2 on the box,
marketings and/or client will not use/support/buy the wheel because they not
sure if it will work.

For now IMO only the Sony Speedster 2 and Logiteck  Driving Force are OFFICIALY
supported... too bad .. too sad ...
