Here is the "official pressrelease" from 10Dogde and his SSM crew:
They can be found and held to justice at

----------

The "Lemans 2k1 Mod" Version 1.0 has been finally released.  The Mod is a
addon for EA Sport's F12001.  It includes all the LMP900 +MG Prototypes that
raced at Lemans in 2001.  Each car is set up to tackle the Historic Circuit
LaSarthe.  Everyone at Sportscar Simulation Motorsport have worked a lot to
bring this to you.  We really hope you enjoy this mod.  We already have
started work on the Lemans 2k2 mod for F12002.  Stay Tuned...  For now enjoy
the 2k1 Mod :D

You can get it at:

thanks,
The SSM Team,

Lemans 2k1 Mod released !

There are some problems with the mod so far.  Mainly the installer.  It
is not copying the car sounds and, at least with my attempts, didn't update
the driver file properly.  Also  the testing and grand prix racing work, but
the Quick race will crash to desktop.
One the PLUS side, they have included with the mod both LeMans and LeMans
Night and included an updated game.gdb file so you don't have to be manually
editing to get the tracks to work.    Very nice work with some small
hassles.  I beleive they will release a v1.1 in a week or two to try and
address the installation bugs.

Lemans 2k1 Mod released !

OK, when I attempt to install it I get the following error message:

Error installing drivers: 453 Erl: 220. Descr: StartInstalling: Can't find
DLL entry point CopyFileExA in kernel32. Src: F1ModInstaller

What does the mod require, Win 98 w/DX8.1 or something like that?
Can it be manually installed?

I think they have tested it with Win 98 and XP so far.  They are having
several small problems.  You need visual basic 6.0 runtime files installed
and, I beleive F1 2001 needs DX8.1 so yes you will need that, but not for
installing.

Actually, F1 2001, the ALMS mod, the FIA GT mod, and the JGTC mod run fine
with Win95 and DirectX 8.0a... It's F1 2002 and Michael Schumacher's Kart
which do require 8.1. However, I'll try the VB6.0 runtime, thanks.
(Or maybe my computer is trying to tell me that it's already time to upgrade?)
