What off-road racing sims are available???

I would love a  Baha style racing sim (not arcade game, ie..Monster
Truck Madness) and I am now convinced one does not exist.  Does
anyone out there know of one in the works, or maybe I missed something.

Rally Championship 99 from Europress looks to be one of the better racers of
the season. I'm just hoping it makes it over to the US.

You would like SODA Offroad Racing.  It's the best offroad sim
I've seen.

Check http://www.allies.com or http://www.sierrasports.com

Jason.

Definitely SODA, great sim, get it in the bargain bin cheap.
Check this site out.

I would cast a vote for SODA also.  It has the second most realistic
physics I've seen in a sim.  Of course, Viper Racing is tied for that
second. :)

Now if Papyrus/Sierra had only offered some 3D support other than
Rendition (read 3dfx), it would be on my classic list.

At any rate, _definitely_ worth the price it can be had for now.

One other thing I would like to see is a place to race the off road sims
like SODA and on road sims like Viper. A place that's beter then Kali
and kahn. Something simular to TEN with N2.

An amusing thought about SODA:  Way back in the days of yore, before
there was even a GPL demo, when there was SODA.  I just remembered my
first time in that sim, what a laugh.  I spun wildly through at least
the first 5 corners I took in that sim, and was thinking to myself,
"What the heck is this?!  I must have something set wrong!"

Of  course, I didn't, but it was a new experience to me, after N1, N2,
ICR2, and GP2 - to think that I had to use _that_ much finesse on the
accelerator; the concept of little or no down force in a sim.  Then
came GPL.  I had no idea. ;)

Sierra SODA Off-Road Racing is the best SIM for off road racing ever made.  The
game came out Christmas 97 and didn't have direct 3D support and only rendition
3D support  which meant that most people had to use software rendering.  If you
own a Pentium II 233 or higher I definetly recommend the game.  I know that a
PII 300 will run the game at 640 x 480 with all graphic options at 30 fps the
game max.  If you run the game at 320 x 240 then a Pentium 233 or higher will
run the game pretty good.  I love this game and still play it .  The game
supports tcp/ip, modem, and ipx for multiplay and has a built in track
editor/creator with the ability to have the computer vehicles learn the track.
The game has 4x4 800Hp trucks, 4x2 800hp trucks, and 4x2 buggies with 150 hp.
This is a real sim and not monster truck madness arcade style game play.
Sierra decided to cut the price and put it into the bargain bin instead of
adding direct 3D suppor,t but it is still a good game.  Actually I have a
rendition V2200 card and the only thing that card adds to the game is filtered
textering with no improvement in frame rate.  The trucks are very well detailed
and have garoud shading and looks fine.  Not Quake 2 or Unreal textured or
anything but that doesn't help game play of a driving sim anyway.  Try this
game.

I even run it in a 320x240 window on my P133 notebook using a stealthy
little minijoystick.  I manage to snaek a few laps at work.  Of course, I
can't run it with any textures on, but being the mechanical engineering
and computer geek that I am, I somehow like the stark beauty of the
virtual world.  I also use the arcade view just to watch the suspension
working.  A vastly underrated sim... sort of like having ADAMS to play
with.

I agree so much ! The beauty with SODA (and GPL also) is that hard-core
simracers will admire watching the replay and <drool> on the suspension
working, body rolling and weight transfer of those cars (err trucks) into
the corners and so.  Especially with a great (and easy) track editor, makes
for infinite amount of fun ;-)    I will race this sim probably for the next
10years ;-D
