And repeated as soon as it's over the first time, with a half hour show on
the "making of."

What's the hold up with Grand Prix and Lemans being released on DVD?  GP I
own on VHS, but prefer to buy Lemans on DVD.

Andrew,

I wonder the same thing. I have LeMans on Laser Disc but would love GP and
Lemans on DVD. The prints that Speedvision has on both GP and LeMans look
very good. There has to be a master tape for both of them. It would not take
much to make DVD's of them. I'd pay $50 US for each one.

I've got the Letterbox GP on VHS, very nice transfer... it would be awesome
on DVD especially if they had something like Speedvision did and interview
Garner.

Even better would be a second audio track with Garner making comments.  I
have "Contact" on DVD and Jodie Foster does this all through the movie -
very interesting.

About 90% of DVD's on the market have audio commentaries Bob these days ;)

(the Contact DVD is from the original DVD releases which weren't quite up
with the current standards of packaging/content/audio/picture quality).

Anyone else watching this movie for the x'th time but with different eyes
now that you've had the LeMans track constantly loaded everytime you fire up
GPL? I couldn't believe how accurate a job everyone did who had a hand in
creating the track for GPL. I was driving right along with Steve every lap
they showed. The only thing that kept messing me up watching the film was
the chicane added before the grandstand/pit area... otherwise I was there!!!

I thought the same thing, my theory is they tightened up the chicane
(sometime later) to slow the cars down.

but the attention to detail is amazing, especially turn 1 with the ads
on the hay bails,, amazing !!!!!!

now if I could just find a decent setup,, the default it a bit too
twitchy for me, ;-)

Robin,

I was doing the same thing. I can't believe what a good job they did on the
track. One thing though, Steve and the Ferrari driver sure make up a lot on
time in one lap. That lap sure last for a long time :-)

Well of course you can that in SCGT now. For whatever that's worth.

I own both on VHS, as well as Paul Newman's "Winning," ( found that in the
cutout bin for $2).

I put off buying them for years because I was waiting for the DVD. I'm still
waiting.

Hey, but at least you can buy Pauly Shore on DVD. Priorities man,
priotities.

Yup, I was thinking the same thing... also thought Steve caught the Ferrari
guy on the last lap after leaving the pits significantly later kinda' fast.
One minute he's nowhere in the mirrors on the Mulsanne straight and then
"here he comes"... I thought the Ferrari was having engine problems.
I really liked the commentary when they went to commercial breaks a la
"Grand Prix" but I missed the "making of" show lead in so I am not sure if
that was covered there as well.

(sheepishly)... umm, hit the wrong key and posted this originally to sender
so I'm reposting to group... sorry.

Yeah, I forgot about those curves that you are refering to when it comes to
the "tightening up" comment... I think because they can be taken flat out in
GPL so I forgot they were even there... anything that can be navigated flat
out is a straight, right?!?
I'm using Alison's Ferrari setup for Spa with a taller 4th and 5th... the
taller 4th doesn't hurt me too much and saves a shift in one spot (don't
know all the names yet) but then again my PB is 3:31.00 so don't take setup
advice from me! ;)
