I am thinking about buying a Thrustmaster Grand Prix 1 wheel.  I am
interested in any comments but especially on the following topics.

-  Does it work well with Nascar2 as far as controling the cars.  I have
used the T2 and want to know if it compares, with no pedals or shift
levers.

-  What is a good price?  I have seen it for $70.  Is that good?

Any responses would be great...

In my opinion the GP1 works great for Nascar2 (ICR2 also).

The ability to do almost everything (gas, brake, shift up, shift down,
steer) with removing your hands from the wheel.

The drawback is not having my right hand free to access the keyboard
(and on the rare occasion the reverse button).

I've been considering adding the CH pedals to the mix but I'm not in a
hurry.

First there was a great post about 2-3 weeks ago, so try a deja-vu search for
that. It compared the GP1 to the T2.

I prefer the GP1 to the T2. The shifting is much better and to me the hand
levers are more controllable for me and natural as compared to the clunky
pedals of the T2. They hold up well to.

Good price is now $55 to $60. These puppies have been dropping nicely lately.

Yes, they do work well, but how reliable are they. I am on my second
GP1. A mate of mine is having trouble with his. Has anyone else had the
problem where you lose your brakes. I had this on my first GP1 and my
mate is having exactly the same problem. I replaced all the pots in my
first wheel, but it still wasn't reliable. Any input on this subject
would be appreciated.

I am also on my second one, after a couple of weeks with the first one I
found that sometimes when going around sharp corners the it would
accelerate on its own. However I hve been using the second one for about
8 months now, playing alot of GP2 (75% races,Rally Championship,N2 and
Carmageddon) and have had no problems at all.

Twice I've had "strange" things happen with my GP1.

Uncontrolled acceleration, no brakes, no shifting.

Both times it was the plug between the wheel and the base unit was
working loose.

It takes weeks for this to work itself loose, so you have plenty of time
to forget what the previous solution was.

Now I routinely press the plug in (to verify) when I start up the
program.

Haven't had a problem since.
