Nascar 2 - where are the drivers?

by Michael Kell » Tue, 26 Nov 1996 04:00:00

In the Nascar 2 demo I noticed that while following other cars, I could
see right through the back window and the front windshield - and there
were NO drivers in those cars!(you should be able to see their heads). I
thought it was just the demo and that these would be added for the final
product.

Also, watching in-car angles of real Nascar racing, you can't see
through the back and front windows like you can in the Nascar 2 demo. It
looks like they are smoked galss or something. At the very least,
reflective light would cause problems seeing through the glass of other
cars.

Finally, when following other cars, the roof of the cars ahead
occasionally disappear. Since when did Nascar start racing convertibles?

I would not have said anything about the above points except I recently
noticed that Papyrus/Sierra are now publsihing screen shots in their
promo adds for Nascar 2 that display the problems mentioned above.

Are they going to fix this stuff before the release?

Nascar 2 - where are the drivers?

Agree on all points and this was the first problem report I submitted to
Papyrus immediately following the demo release.  I feel that the cars in
NASCAR 1 look more realistic - given the disappearing or at least much too
thin roofs.  The missing driver almost makes you feel you are following a
ghost train (or at least Tim Richmond).  I hope this is fixed - because I
really feel more like I am on a real track in NASCAR 1 than I do in the
NASCAR 2 demo.

On the can't see through a real stock car's windows - this is glare.
NASCAR does NOT allow tinted windows like they us in ARCA and other series.
This is supposed to allow a driver to see through the car he/she is
following and spot trouble etc.  However, the glare often makes this
impossible anyway.
