Finally broke 1:10 at the Glenn!

I know that the the majority of the subscribers of this newsgroup scoff
at this accomplishment, But last night in an intermediate short race at the
Glenn, I qualified with a 109.9, and had a fastlap of 108.9 during the
race`.
More significantly, I finished on the lead lap for the first time!

I am on the way to being a considerate, consistant backmarker!

Nope, we definitely don't. And those who do, well, simply ignore them.
You're on the learning curve, and improving.
Some forget they where in the same boat, but then years ago (ie with GP1/2).

Congrats.
Btw, with 1:06s you *can* win an online race. Maybe even with 1:07s.
Go get them :)

No scoffing here!  This is indeed a major accomplishment.  First the
break through of the 1:10 barrier at the Glen.  It seemed to take me
forever to reach that high point.  From here on out, it can only get
better.  You still need to practice and hone your skills, but you should
feel that you have really accomplished something.

I remember when only being a 1 lap down at the end of a race was a real
accomplishment for me. ;-)  Being able to finish on the same lap is on
par with the above accomplishment.  I've worked my way from being a
consistently lapped, to a consistent mid-packer.  You should find
yourself there soon.

Hey Jeff... if people scoff that's their problem!! :-)

You're doing great at chipping away at it! Keep it up. Even if you find
a VROC race at the Glen, I guarantee you will find someone at your speed
to race with... they might even push you to new heights!

I'll look for you when I finally take the VROC plunge; we'd probably
have a great dice for (n-1)th, where n is the number of cars in the
race.

How close were you to getting lapped?  The first time I finished on
the lead lap (a big deal for me too), a hilarious thing happened.  I
don't have the replay, but this is how I remember it.  Clark came up
on me on the front straight as I started my next-to-last lap.  The
race had been pretty boring (since I hadn't spun, a new experience),
so I decided to try to keep  him behind me for some e***ment.  I
barely held him off going into Big Bend, and his off-line entry slowed
him enough that I was able to keep him behind me.
Coming off of the Ninety, he makes another unsuccessful move.
I'm off-line coming into the Esses, and for some reason he
still wants to get past me, even though he's just taken the
checkered.  I didn't think he would do it, so I move back on
line.  Rather than braking, he tries to squeeze past, and ends
up shearing off his right front wheel on the guard rail in T3.
He got me back, though; the next race, he was about to lap me
again at about the same spot.  He came up fast enough that I
couldn't get off-line before Big Bend, so I was going to let him by
after.  Apparently, he was still upset with me, because he tapped
my rear just as I turned in, punting me off course.  Who says the AI
doesn't have a memory?
