Is it possible to convert SCGT tracks to work in F1 2002?  What (free!)
tools would I need?  Better yet, is anyone else already working on this?

Thx,
Hal

Technically yes.  The current path is to convert from SCGT to F1 2001 and
then fix the track to work with 2002.  The SCGT LeMans track has just been
converted to 2001 and I 'beleive' it is already working with 2002.  I would
try the forums at Race Sim Central or the individual forums for many of the
mods that are available.
try simbin.com for the fiagt v3 mod, they have a fairly active forum.

Yes its possible. You would need some unmas-program
to unpack the mas-files of SCGT, and you would need
F1 2002-mastool, and zmodeler. www.zmodeler.com
You would also probably need the newest mts-filter from
locutus site (sorry dont have the url right now), and
some nice graphics-program like paintshop pro.
I almost forgot anthony hirsts vrl<->vrml tool, which i THINK you need, not
sure...
cant remember really right now.

Now you're ready to go :)

Btw, if you look at Simbin, they now have SuperBike-tracks converted(!) no
idea how they
did it, but Brands Hatch is gonna be nice for a 80ies sportscar addon :)

Wow.  Had a look over at SimBin and it looks like they are in the
process of converting all the tracks I really care about.  Road Atlanta
is being worked on, and the SBK version of Laguna Seca.  Hopefully they
will do some version of Mosport also.  Once we get those tracks and some
sport prototypes into F1 2002, we will for all practical purposes have
SCGT2.  ;o)
