I had tried this a while back and it did not solve my problem. Still
no joystick calibration in N2 under W95 OSR2 (B release). This is the
utility that puts the Sidewinder Icon as {*** Devices} in the
Control panel, correct?

Make sure you try version 1.5 published by Microsoft 1/15/97.  Supposed
to be updated drivers.

AFAIK, that is the only version that has been available for
downloading.  The earlier version only came bundled with the
controllers (Ron doesn't have one).

OK folks, I have another related problem in the same arena.  For me the Win95
joystick calibration works but if I go into N2 while connected online to Kali,
the joystick is inoperable while within N2.  If I disconnect from my ISP the
joystick reappears.  There are no conflicts in Device Manager.

I too am running the OEM version of Windows.  Has anyone seen this peculiarity?

I recently updated to a new Pentium 200 along with updating Windows (I had to)
and it bugs me that this doesn't work.  Ya, I can probably go through KaliDos
but this seems to imply that I won't be able to run in the NRO if I can't get
this working.

Any hints?

There's two OEM versions (plain or "A", and "B") The "B" version seems
to not work, which is being investigated...

For now, I'd just run whatever it took to make it work (KaliDOS in
your case), as this is an issue that will surely need to be resolved,
since like it or not, we've got to bend over to the latest offerings
from Redmond.

I had the same prob as the first fellow and I found it to be the speed
compensating game card in my machine (two joystick ports on a card).
Worked fine in dos boot but Windows95 would not recognize any joystick I
plugged into it. But yet it recognized that the game card was there and
had no conflicts. I removed the game card, enabled the joystick port on
my soundblaster, and bought a 6 dollar joystick Y-adapter cable and
problem is solved. If you are not using a game card, I have seen lot's
of problems and/or conflicts with anything except a SoundBlaster.TM
soundcard. Hope this helps.

There is also a bug with the OEM "B" version of Windows.  Go to Control
Panel-System and check the version.  If it says 4.00.950 B, your hosed and have
to run the sim in real DOS mode.

Yep, Tried that and about everything else I can think of short of
trying a dedicated gamecard such as the ACM (which I understand still
does not solve the problem of N2/W95(b) problems for some of those
that have tried this), but atleast I will know that I should have
better calibration values and hopefully a better "feel" with my T2
which is somewhat "twitchy" when turning too quick on my current
system P166MMX versus the performance I had on my P100.
