Saving Track Records in Nascar 1

I have suddenly encountered a problem loading cars.dat when my game starts up.
According to the technical tips at Sierra's homepage, I have to reset the game
back to its default settings (or reload if necessary).
If I reset the game to its default settings will I lose all the track
records, car setups, etc? Is there a way to save the information without
having to wipe everything out and start from ground zero?

Thanks,

        Ken

I think that all you have to do is delete the gameopts.cfg file in you
NASCAR1 directory.  Then start up the game.  It should default to the
original cars file and directory (hopefully it still exists on your
HardDrive -- else you will need to copy it over from your CD-ROM or
install disk).

The only thing I can think of is did you delete the cars94.dat file?
Gotta have that on to run the game. If you have to re-install the game,
create a nastmp tree identical to the nascar tree and copy all your
track txt and setup files there to save them in case they get wiped or
changed.

Good luck!
