I tried 12.90's, and saw a small slow-down compared to older drivers.
When beta-patch F1-2001 came out, mirrors were a mess, so I tried
Nvidia v21.83 drivers, and they out-performed old 10.80 drivers.
-But-, there were some graphical glitches in another game.
Tried 22.80 drivers, works fine with all games, same speed as
21.83's, and no graphic problems.
Funny, 12.90's might be the fastest set for your computer, yet not my
computer. Too many posts claim certain drivers are better than others.
I think one must test several driver sets, and find the best one.

Which i find to be a good thing about nVidia. I can't remember all the times
with other video cards where if their driver doesn't work, you're SOL. Yeah,
it's a pain in the arse at times to track down a driver that works for you,
but at least you have the option. =) I'm using 21.81, btw, and have no
desire to change it because the quality and speed work fine for me.
