Nascar Thunder 2003 - Multiplayer

My friend and I have just purchased  Nascar Thunder 2003. We networked
our computers and tried "multiplayer", but it only had the two of us
competing against each other.

Is there anyway you can have computer opponents in mulitplayer?

Any assistance would be appreciated.
