Well, seeing as you ask.. 1:21.3 on a BBC, using keyboard (though the
analogue support, which I finally got around to trying last year
makes the sim pretty amazing, even by current standards as far as
driveability is concerned)

For ages I played Revs with the keyboard only.  Silverstone was about
the only track I could get round at any speed.  I spent along time
trying to track down an analogue paddle.  Eventually I persuaded my
brother to try and build me one.  Even in an early prototype version
I broke my lap record on Brands Hatch.
Your right the mechanical model of the car is still up there with the
best of them.  F1GP's was probably as good but masked by the need to
make it work with digital joysticks.

This was mentioned to Geoff Crammond in an interview that appeared in
Edge magazine a some months ago.  He liked the idea but made no
comment about actually doing it.
Perhaps if someone could hack the tracks in F1GP2 to be more like
Stunt Car tracks we could find out if the mechanical model can cope
with it.  Could be fun!
