GP2 with Stealth 64 3200 2MN VRAM

by Karsten Ortschei » Wed, 31 Jul 1996 04:00:00

Hi there,

after I started GP2 with log:on I've got following results:

        Speed: 291
        Video Speed: 177.

My system:

        150MHz,Gigabyte-Board, Diamond Stealth 64 3200 2MB VRAM, 16MB RAM ...

So my question is: "What's wrong?????????". The posted messages I've
seen showed higher Video Speed. But the game itself is running ok. No
problems e.g. Monaco!
Has anybody a solution?

See my coming post about the truth of S3SPDUP. It is all about your
problem.

I have the 3240 and I got 173 for vid speed. I then ran S3SPDUP and got a
328. Not sure how it works, but I now get an extra 1.4 fps in SVGA. Get
it if you have an s3 based chip.

The Stealth 64 3200 VRAM is a great card but VRAM is slower
in DOS than DRAM. Some or the majority of the people have
DRAM or the Matrox Millenium. I, personnally, have the Stealth
3D 2mb DRAM. I get 380 for video speed. I know that the 3D is
the same as the Stealth 64 2201 or any other S3 Trio64+ card.
Your card is a great Windows performer but not a great DOS
performer although i'm surprised its that low. Maybe someone
else has more answers.

As a matter of consistency, I have the 3240xl also, and log:on
returned nearly IDENTICAL numbers in SVGA- 174, 329. With
s3spdup loaded of course. P133 16MB edo/256kpipe intel/triton mb
