okay, everyone knows that some drivers (esp villenueve) used this game
to learn the tracks, as did oliver gavin for a spa f3 (3000?)

any others that anyone knows of?

and have any drivers commented on how realistic/unrealistic it is?

and what is the highest straight line speed anyoen has got on an
unmodified copy of the game?

See under. I'm sure there is many other, but only for fun.  On the NROS,
there is many real Nascar (Busch and WinstonCup) who are driving there,
offline or even against us. So it wouldn't be uncommon (well, maybe they do
more F1RS now)

I remember Bertrand Godin (F3000 driver) telling to myself how realistic and
unrealistic is was at the same time. He said that even if the driving engine
lacks sometimes in realism (especially he said in the way you drive the
limit of the car), the overall is pertty well done, more than what he would
thought.

Hmm something like 346 at Hockenheim. I'm not a pro Gp2 driver, I'm sure
some other made higher speeds there. I might be wrong, but I don't check my
speed very much (nothing serious IMHO)

I believe Oliver Gavin was in the era of F1GP instead of GP2....

I remember an interview with Tiff Needle (?), a testdriver for Top Gear on BBC.
He was asked to test GP2 for realism. His comment was that the effects of setup
changes were very accurate, and that driving gave a good impression of how much
a pilot has to do during a race. But at the same time, the flat image on the
monitor and the limited view into the distance makes it rather unrealistic for
real drivers who aren't used to computergames & simulators.

I have also read reports that Mika Salo used GP2 to learn courses. Maybe related
to the fact that he is pretty "close" with Villeneuve.
