Hi Eldred,

The Nurburgring actually has lots of slow turns.  If you keep in 3rd gear and
don't crash you could probably do a 9 minute lap easily.  For memorizing the
track, don't try to memorize each turn at the start.  Memorize the 14 sections
denoted by large yellow/white signs.  Keep landmarks in mind like the first bridge
turn in the twisty hedge part ;-)

One more thing, use the color of the groove to help judge the speed of the next
turn.  If it is really black, the turn is slow.

You really can memorize all the turns once you've been there long enough.

Hope this helps,
Jason.

Eldred and TRUSRS85,

I suggest you both run The Ring in opposite directions and see if you
ever catch site of each other.

Can I get in on this? My PB at the Ring is a dismal 10:15 so we should
have a good race...eh?

Signs?  They have SIGNS in there...?
<just kidding>

Usually, if the groove is real dark, it's soon followed by an "Oh shit!" from
me...<g>

I'll take your word for it...

Take the week off work, pick one car. Go to the Ring. Don't change the setup
at all. Drive laps. Many laps. Then, do more laps. You may allow for up to
three toilet breaks, and lunch. Then, more laps. At the end of the week,
you'll find you can recognize some, if not all sections. You don't need to
know the track verbatim, but it helps to know that a particular section of
the track has certain types of corners. While learning the track, it may
help to brake whenever you can't see what's over a rise, as at least you
won't crash, and next time, you'll know you can go a bit faster at that
point.

Admittedly, I haven't turned a whole lot of laps at The Ring.  And most
of the time I spend in GPL is usually in the F3's, BUT...

You ain't gonna believe this man...

Just checked my best laps page.  Man, this is BAD.  11:02.  Move over
guys.  King of the Turtles is here!
