Maybe through the first corner,  but how long does that last for ?
Surely the rate goes up significantly when you get into the race.
And anyway,  maybe thats the problem.  I usually always start at the
front of the grid ...   ;-)

I'm no expert, but I think it has to do with IRQ settings.  On a recent
reinstall of WIN95, I installed my SBL first and my modem later.  WIN assigned
the SBL an address GP2 could see.  Prevoiusly, the modem was using the address
GP2 wanted for the sound card.  Hope this helps.  BTW, they're right, GP2 is
still a blast!

Loren,  GP2 set itself up with no help from me.  I running it under windows in
a dos box if that helps.  It's Nascar Racing that I still can't get to run at
all and Need for Speed still won't see my sound card.  It never ends.

Ken,  your right, it only lasts until past the first turn.  My criticism is
that the game only called for a P90 as the OPTIMAL hardware when it came out
three years ago,  and it still falters on a P3 550.  It's been pretty much
accepted that the code is flawed in that way.

I know what you mean and I agree totally.
AFAIC - its still the best racing game on the PC and apart from that
hiccup with all the cars on the first corner at Monaco,  the rest of
the game and the other tracks all run really smooth on a half-decent
system.
A great game and for the amount of hours that myself and 5 friends
have got from playing our regular F1 championships,  it was well worth
the money.
I just hope that GP3 doesnt stray too far from what has been a really
fun game/sim,  and that it has the "unique"  multi-player option that
only GP2 has.   Why other car racing games don't adopt this multi-play
option,  I really dont know.   Its the only way to have  a few guys
racing each other on the ONE computer.

Cheers.....Ken

happy
