PS . GPL , GP2 and N2 work fine , the problem is with F1RS only.
I had this problem when my 3dfx card overheated. Dunno if you're
experiencing the same thing though since you're not using a 3dfx board.

Don't know if this helps any, but when I installed F1RS last time it
"updated" some of my DX5 items into older, non supported versions
(which effectively terminated RB2 and kept me swearing for a full half
an hour). So check your DX5 components.
