N2: What networkcard to choose?

by Edwin Solhei » Wed, 19 Mar 1997 04:00:00

I need some help regarding N2 and network-play.

I'm in the fine posistion where i get to choose and buy computers etc. at
my work.
A nice thing about running the family business is that you can choose what
type of PC's to buy and when the rest of the employees don't know s***
about computers, i can pick whatever suits me best! (He-he!)

So i would like to know what type of network-cards / software suits N2
best, what NOT to choose etc.

Anyone got some info?

I would get the PCI 10baseT network cards from 3com very nice and fast! All
we use in my office! Along with Novell and WindowsNT Server!

Personally I would go PCI simply becasue Isa slots are pretty full in most
machines nowadays. If yours isn't go cheapest ISA you can find. Either way go
the cheapest. I haven't seen a dog network card yet to say stay away from. The
cheap cards get all the performance one needs. I've used all different type of
cards in the field and they all are good. Look for those new two machine game
networking kits with 10baseT cards they're a real good deal to. I think like
$80, those came out after I was all setup and no a person that went this way
in the office enviroment as well and everything is 100%, those were pci boards
to so that was a great deal. 2 cards, cable, 2 terminators and 2 bnc
t-connectors. Not bad.

Also your probably still sore with 3-Com Park name as well, it's Candlestick.
