Rubbish. The platform is already there, they have a stable game engine that
produced already two solid titles. When will people in the racing community
start to learn that selling to a specific market *is* something possible?
They do it all the time in the flight sim community, the space sim
community, the RPG community, the adventure community, naval sims,
war-historic games, etc...
Licensing is the only issue here, because the man-hour work on GPL2 wouldn't
be that much as the major basis for the sim is already there. Considering
that GPL sold pretty well in Europe, and as the rumours unfold, it is enough
of a hit to satisfy a second version of the title. GPL did not need an FIA
license, I doubt GPL2 would. Less money spent. The only key features left
are some principal drivers and the major team licensing. As they were able
to get them in GPL (Lotus, Ferrari, etc..), it shouldn't be a problem in
GPL2. Their russian artwork team doesn't cost as much as having one in
North America, another way to cut the cost of production.
You have nothing to stand on stating that it wouldn't sell enough because 1)
you don't know how many copies GPL2 would sell (it could be a major hit) and
2) you can't say about the total budget of the speculated GPL2. In the
entertainment it's all about taking risks. You only speculate, I can only
do that either, but to say that it absolutely cannot break even is just
plain FALSE.
