NASCAR: Can't scan in logos!

I used a color scanner... my Logitech Handheld.  I scanned in
sponsors from magazines and photographs.  I used the software that
came with the scanner... FotoTouch Color.  Everything looks fine
until I push the import button in the Paintkit.  All the colors
are completely distorted and the car looks like someone puked on
it!  I spent like 1-2 hours designing and getting everything
perfect on my car.  What did I do wrong?  It was PCX format,
256 colors, and I didn't paste something outside of car outline
(if that matters).  Does this have anything to do with the top
color bar on the nas94.pcx file?  It's a line composed of like
100 colors.

having experienced difficulties importing into various paint
programs, I think it was the number of colors, from your
description.
make some test runs with different setups to determine
what the proper one is. then spend the hrs to make the good one.

You've got to watch the palette you're using. In fact you should have the
same palette as the game uses. It doesn't matter if you've 256 colors (8 bit)
if they don't match the palette the game uses :)

What to do:
Import an original decal into a pixel paint program that lets
you manipulate images in the 8-bit format. Then import the picture or whatever
into the program and adapt that pict to the current palette. The pict will
probably look funny, to change this you have to change every pixel in order
to achieve a picture that is "normal" looking. It's quite a job.

The problem with PhotoShop, etc. is that they only let you process and
manipulate images in true color (24-bit).

Hope this helps.
