This is a fantastic sound card, and for $49 you sure as hell can't beat the
price.  This is out-the-door price, no rebates!

I'm going to pick up 3 or 4 of them for the machines I have using just
onboard audio right now :)

Does this card show up as a 'SB16 Pro' in win98, and can you use it for dos
compatibility in winxp?  That backward compatibility is still important to
me.

Well I went ahead and bought one.  Had to change the irq in devman (win98)
so it worked properly in dos games.  The Sensaura 3D audio in these cards is
supposed to be very nicely used in the Thief games (which I love) so I'll
try one of the fan missions this weekend :)  Thanks for the heads up!

You can visit www.turtlebeach.com and find out.  I haven't used 98 in so
long I don't recall.

fwiw,  when I had all my nvidia problems(now fixed thankfully) I swapped
out two different soundboards,  the turtle beach was one...with win98se, I
don't think I ever saw a soundcard related problem.  I did end up using an
Audigy and since that was the card IN the box when I got things fixed,
that's what stayed in.

Yes, use SB Pro for dos. I wouldn't use that card on Win98SE unless
you get the beta WDM drivers for Win98SE from TB/Voyetra.
