F1 2000 Graphics - update

by Ivan » Mon, 27 Mar 2000 04:00:00

Ok, last night I posted on and on about how poor I thought some of the
graphics were (especially the buildings, fences and the edges of the
tracks)
I have found a partial solution to all of these. Instead of using the
maximun texture mapping, I turned it down to meduim.  Big difference.
The graphics look more anti-aliased. Of course you can even turn off
the fences in the option menu altogether. I also think the game looks
better w/o the shadows. (they look like blocks)

Another thing bothering me was the change in polycounts on the cars as
they zoomed in and out out. (more polys in close/less ploys far away)
and the fact that the wheels seemed to be stuck in 2D (the screenshotes
always showed them in 3D). I edited the veh files to keep the cars at
the maximum poly counts and 3D wheels ALL the time. It looks great!

frame rate difference. (of course it wasn't "great" to begin with)

If you want me to post a how to, let me know.

Oh well, back to the game

Ivan
