HOPE NASCAR2 has realistic damage

Has this happened to you lately:

your running a good race on hawaii when you see trouble ahead you back out of the gas
and apply the breaks you get by most of it but you clip a car not going that fast but
wow your cars front end dissapears and your engine is gone.  I think this is the most
unrealistic part of nascar that i hope changes.  dont get me wrong if your going 130 mph
and you hit something you car is pretty much used up but I think the way they have it
now sucks.  Monday night I had a league race at sonoma.  we run 40% races which are
pretty long.  6 laps to go im going up over turn 2 under yellow when someone slams on
breaks in front of me.  the car behind him plows into him.  i lock my breaks up i hit
him doing about 25 mph and my front end is completely wiped out i mean come i think they
can make it a little more realistic than that.  I mean ok puncture my radiator and let
smoke come out the back of my car like in gp2.  does anyone know if they are going to
fix this problem in Nascar 2.  I also think the tire damage is unrealistic.  you touch
the wall and your whole tire is gone. BS whens the last time you seen a complete tire
rip off a car when he hits the wall..  you got to think about that one right.....

I don't know how many times I've bounced off a wall at one of the
superspeedways and come out unscathed. That seems totally unrealistic to
me. Generally, if a car even brushes a wall at most tracks, he's going to
have some serious damage. BTW, the message is "Wheel Damage", meaning
you've dinged up a rim, which seems very plausible to me.

So I agree with you that the damage is unrealistic, but I think that it's
not severe enough in many cases. If you don't like it, run with Arcade
damage.

It would be nice to be able to take the car behind the wall to repair
serious damage. Also, minor breakdowns that can be repaired after a few
laps (ignition system, etc), or dropping a cylinder. The AI cars either run
flat out or not at all. If they pit with a problem, they're out of the
race. You never see an AI car down 50 laps like you do in the real race.
These are things that would make it just a little more realistic.

Brian,

Sounds like you'd prefer "arcade damage", which is a bit more forgiving.
You can select arcade damage in Hawaii races, and it will also be available
in NASCAR II options.

Well actually...
- Go jump on your old yugo (or what ever your old junker may be (c'mon
everyboys got a junker just in case the good car breaks down!))

- Get 1\2 mile away from a brick wall.

- Leave your seat belt off, a and the door cracked open.

- Acelerate to 29 miles per hour or so .

- Just befire you hit the wallopen the door and quickly jumpm out.

NOW TELL ME WHAT AN IMPACT AT 25 MPH WILL DO TO A CAR!!

OK, I'm gonna be picky, but actually, hitting a car at 25 is more like
hitting a wall at 12.5 (wall relects energy, another car absorbs it, (of
course this assumes the car hit is a mirror image, but it's close)). So,
while it should mess up your car a bit, I don't know that it would kill
an engine...
