Sorry, Andy, this only just showed up on my newsreader.
You lucky dog! I've always wanted to have a go, just haven't got round to it
yet - I've seen those track day thingys, where you take your own car, but I
don't think an 86 Golf is quite what they had in mind! :-)

Yeah, my posting server is shite ... just moved to this one.

It's well worth the 100 it costs.  I'd go again tomorrow if my house wasn't
taking all my money.  It's a bit weird though, they tell you about
downchanging to 3rd at quarry, tower and camp, which is good in the XR2i.
When you go out in the FF1600, 3rd gear is too slow (at the 4000rpm limit)
to take the corner.  I was buzzing so much, I didn't think to not downchange
until after I'd finished.  The buffeting on your head is intense, even at
80-90mph.  Try it, you *will* like it.

I did the extended driving school experience shortly after pasing my driving
test ( Hugh Elliot was my tutor - the B-Class FF1600 champion for a long
time)

Later in the year I helped out as general Gofer for Kevin Mills Racing -
then the following year - the last year before the Layout changes - I did
two days testing to check out the data logging and as a thank you for
helping them out generally - it was fantastic to run as fast as I effin
wanted instead of the rather feable 4000 rpm limit.

I remember - spent most of my childhood at Quarry/camp/tower ;-)  I've been
watching races there for 17 years.

*That* sounds amazing!  Kevin Mills had his car featured in CCC that year I
seem to remember, and had a fantastic fight all year with Gavin Wills.
Commentary was quite amusing then 'Wills at Old Paddock from Mills, and
Wills dives inside Mills...'.  Somewhat confusing.  I've not driven the
track since the chicanes came in, but I can imagine they're quite fun.  You
see a lot of people get into trouble at Bobbies going sideways, backwards,
straight on...

How does a 'lardarse' like you get in an FF car Doug..???????

Having read yesterday about the two guys who won the big prize of a F1 ride
3 up with Jon Herbert driving and one of them couldn't fit in the car and
was gutted..!!..you instantly came to mind..;o)

Morgan

p.s a 3 seater F1 car is a crazy idea...and the performance when 3 up tells
it's own story..0-100mph in 9 secs....a Caterham would blow it away..!!!

I think you may have trouble beating an F1 in a catering truck ;-)  Even 3
up, the F1 can't weight more than 650kg, and with 800bhp to play with, I
can't see a 500kg 220bhp car beating it!
