Did you do the track session on the old track or the new one?  I did the old
track in July 1998, but I got 5 laps in the XR2i ;-)  I'm still chuffed with
my 86% - Ben Collins was my instructor.  I found the 4000rpm limit was way
too restrictive.  I mean, it's not hard to run them at say 5500 red line,
and at about 200 a pop from the scrappies, the engines are not expensive.
Oh well...

No, *English* refers to anything in England ;-) (hence I want
to be able to set Word to "English (English)"!)

Great Britain AFAIK is England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland;
the UK includes Eire as well.  Not quite certain where the Manx
fit into this - possibly UK.

I think this is how it works

UK = England Scotland and Wales + N.Ireland

Britain = England Scotland and Wales

British Isles = England Scotland and Wales + N.Ireland + EIRE

Its all a little complicated...

Here we go again ;)

English is England. British is English, Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish
(unless your a hardline Republican I suppose ;)  ). The UK consists of
England, Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland. Eire IS NOT in the UK, but is part
of the British Isles. Manx is UK, I think, because the Queen is still head
of state?

Gavin (who also lives in Chippenham, not far for Castle Coombe, but who is
Welsh, not English..... ;-)  )

PS - Back to the subject. Can't think of any other circuits with decent
elevation. Thruxton has a bit, going down into Church, then coming back up
the hill towards that final chicane.

Oulton Park and Cadwell Park both have quite a bit of elevation.

how about lydden hill?  i remember watching rally cross there (on
telly) years & years ago, and it looked like it was on the side of a
hill.

got this from the mclaren site:

The Lydden site has the benefit of planning permission for the
construction of a new test track and factory premises.

ohhhhh.

and while i'm here, what happened to the 'brands hatch update'
building/butcher programme that bernie and/or brands owner woman were
promoting a few years ago?

ROFL!  Not likely - they use proper blue-printed engines, but if they used
ones from a scrappy, they'd offer a higher rev limit for the same cost.
