Does it fix the multiplayer problems?  I've been on the fence about getting
this sim, but from what I've read, the cheating is worse than it was in
N2003.

Looks like some new issues post patch; complaints are popping up about the
pace car and stop/go penalties.  Only had time for one online go so far at
Homestead, but had the latter happen.  Full pace lap and flags were on in
the race I joined, and as usual, the bozo's were bumping each other on the
pace lap.  Nothing big, but the guy in front of me pulls off heading out of
T2 (with no visible damage), but doesn't exit the race; he just noodles
along slowly.  Spotter yells at me to slow down and get behind him and I try
to, although the rest of the pack is pulling away.  Before I even get to T3,
I get the call that I've gotten a stop/go penalty, followed a couple of
seconds later by the spotter telling me to catch up and get behind a
different car; the one who was in front of the guy who slowed up (who I
would have slotted in behind to begin with).  So I catch back up, slot in
and the race goes green.  We do 2 laps before a yellow comes out.  I see a
bunch of guys pitting and wonder why.  Too early for tires or fuel and there
hadn't been that big a wreck.  I'm guessing they got stop/go's too.  Anyway,
I stay out, we go green and the next lap I get DQ'ed for not obeying the
stop/go.  Great; the only way I could have gotten behind the guy who pulled
out of line on the pace lap was to put it in reverse.  Forgot to look and
see what happened to him...

I was going backwards anyway, being stuck with the default rookie setup.
Hadn't raced at Homestead before so I didn't have the correct race setup
loaded in a race session, was in the garage trying to load a decent setup it
when I got dropped into the car to start the pace lap.  That aspect of
choosing setups is very poor compared to NR2003, where you can lock in your
Qual & Race setups from one screen.

Speaking of setups, the supposed diff lock fix in the patch is simply the
change to the power side setting in the default setup files that everyone
was already doing, and not in the HDV file.  So you can still override it
and run an open diff by manually editing the setup files.

No doubt this patch solved some problems, but it's gonna take a few more at
this rate.

"No doubt this patch solved some problems, but it's gonna take a few more at

This is EA.  They rarely ever release more than 1 patch that I can recall
for other titles. The next patch will be NSR 2006.

And what a FINE patch it is.

I guess we call this the "Rules" patch.  Maybe there will be an acutal "FIX"
patch eventually.

Hehe :)
